Buying a Tandem Double Buggy

A tandem double buggy can be a fantastic option if you have twins, or children who are very close in age. They are narrower than side-by-side buggies and are great for tight spaces like doors, public transport and terrain that is rocky.

Some are able to be converted into travel systems that take two carrycots or child car seats. They can be heavier, longer and less stable than a single pushchair.

Convertible

Whether you're looking for a convertible stroller that can be converted from a single to a double or to add another seat to an existing one, there are several options available. The UPPAbaby V2 is a spacious, gorgeous stroller. It can be easily changed from a single to a double tandem pushchair by adding a Rumble seat. However, it's pricey and less maneuverable than other dual strollers since the second seat is located behind the front seat. Nuna Demi Grow offers a similar option but lacks storage underneath the seat when it is used as a double stroller.

Other options include twin pushchair from birth buggies that have all-terrain wheels, and joggers with fixed wheels that can hold two children. They are more expensive, but they are designed to last longer on rough terrain, and come with more expensive resales.

Reclining the seat independently

If you want a double stroller which can accommodate children of various ages, you will need one with a recliner that is independent for both seats. This allows your child of a higher age to rest in the back while the baby sleeps in the bassinet and reverse.

Think about the width of your pushchair to determine how easy it is for you to get through doors and on public transportation. If you have narrow doors, it may be worthwhile to consider a side-by-side pushchair, such as the Mountain Buggy Duet which has the benefit of having a footprint that is similar to a single buggy, however, it is able to take 2 seats and car seat adaptors.

Tandem buggies are generally longer than side by side models, and therefore are more difficult to maneuver around and down kerbs. It also features an adjustable handle, which makes it easier for parents of various heights to push as well as a handbrake, which is useful when tackling difficult hills. It is suitable for use right from birth, and can be used with a range of car seats and carrycots.

The iCandy Wave is another option. It folds in either mono or duo mode with just a single click. Its clever frame expands widthways to allow for a second seat and it can be used with up to two carrycots or car seats so it's an excellent option for older siblings that wish to sit together and enjoy the view. It's a little longer than other models, but it isn't heavy and has a soft suspension for curbs.

There are also plenty of 3-wheeler tandems inline available Check out Phil and Teds inline models, or iCandy's Peach and Pear buggies, for instance - which provide stability and swift steering. They are often folded into a single buggy if you are limited in space at home or need to transport it from the car to the bus.

Be aware that a double wide buggy is more heavy and heavier than one compact buggy. Be sure you know what you want prior to making a buy. You'll be taking it off Road double buggy and on subways, buses, and trains frequently, so it must be easy to operate and manage. You may need to juggle the car seat in and out when you take your child to school or nursery.

From your birth, you are a good candidate
