Crowned National Hunt Champion trainer for the 14th time, Paul Nicholls is on the verge of smashing through his own prize-money record at Sandown on Saturday.

The Ditcheat maestro saddles a quartet of contenders in the feature bet365 Gold Cup as well as a host of leading chances throughout the card as he stands on the threshold of accumulating a staggering £4million in prize money on the final day of the season.

The popular FRODON (Sandown, 2.15) would certainly be a fitting winner of Saturday's marquee chase with few denying he has been one of the stars of the jumping scene for what seems an age.

The 11-year-old's durability and longevity apart, his ability to run to a high level and maintain his enthusiasm despite a weighty workload has established him as a National Hunt fans' favourite, but it is not just sentiment which gives him a sound chance in the big race.

Plunged back into a handicap off top weight on his reappearance, Frodon delivered in style on a memorable afternoon at Wincanton back in November. And, while his season hasn't quite hit those same heights since, a brave run in the King George on Boxing Day behind stablemate and subsequent Gold Cup runner-up Bravemansgame, proved the veteran is no back number.

Frodon was far from disgraced on his latest start in the Coral Trophy Handicap at Kempton either, despite not being able to dominate and he could prove a difficult adversary for today's foes if he can find some early rhythm under regular rider Bryony Frost.

Hopefully, conditions don't ride too testing following some heavy rain in the Esher area in recent days, but Frodon should cope just fine Buy VCC (Virtual Credit Cards) With Crypto Currency [2023] - VCCReLoad.Com easy ground, and I like the fact he has missed all the spring festivals to arrive at Sandown a fresh horse.

Last week's gallant Coral Scottish Grand National winner Kitty's Light strives to complete a remarkable double just seven days after an emotional victory.

Trainer Christian Williams and his family had their world turned upside down recently with the news his five-year-old daughter Betsy has been diagnosed with leukaemia.

Last weekend's emotive Ayr success gave the Welsh handler and his family a much-needed tonic and Williams said: 'I'm just lucky to be involved in this sport and to see the joy that horses can bring to people.

'Last weekend was just one situation of what the horse has done for us when he picked everyone up - and not just my family, but friends and owners and everyone was thinking of us.

'It was a wonderful day, and it was all down to Kitty's Light. He's a wonderful horse. We understand the task he has, but the horse seems very well and has come out of the Scottish Grand National very well.'

Should he oblige, Kitty's Light would become just the second horse after Hot Weld (2007) to complete the notable double and victory for either the seven-year-old or Ditcheat stalwart Frodon would bring the house down on another fabulous season this afternoon.
