French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

Combining form and functionality, French-door refrigerators have stylish double doors that open up to a spacious fridge up top and freezer drawer below. These refrigerators stand out due to their unique features, like through-the-door dispensers and higher-end ice makers.

We contacted Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect and the founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the best one. They weighed the capacity of storage as well as layout, energy efficiency, and other factors.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

You can alter the shelves in both compartments to create a custom storage setup for whatever you have to store. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is also attractive. The LED lighting adds a nice accent. The bins for storage inside come with a third shelf that can be folded down to store tall objects. The drawers include temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their textured plastic coatings to be a bit hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the complete set of features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range that includes Wi-Fi as well as app support via GE's SmartHQ software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices, lets you control your fridge from anywhere in world, and offers a ton of customization options. It also gives you notifications when doors are left open, when the refrigerator or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter.

It is nice if GE PYE22PYNFS could offer Precise Fill, an option that is available in a few GE refrigerators that allow users to select the number of cups they would like to dispense. The fridge shows a countdown to reveal how much water remains but it's not as helpful as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Designed to look as a seamless element of your kitchen Bosch's French door refrigerator is an eye-catching piece. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also boasts a veggie compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher longer and has dual compressors for maximum preservation of food. The ice maker we tested was one of the most efficient, and it produces an ice pyramid with only a little water. The fridge was rated the best refrigerator in our Refrigerators test for a few reasons. LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

One of the best things about this refrigerator is that the ice maker is inside the freezer, which makes it easy to transfer ice into the fridge for use when required. Smart InstaView panel is another awesome feature of the refrigerator. You can control the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a nice way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, especially if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat but it doesn't improve the performance of the fridge. This fridge took longer to chill food and defrost it than some others we tested. This is likely due to the larger capacity.

The other issue we have with the door of this refrigerator. They have sunken handles at the front, which allows smaller people to open them from the bottom, however they're difficult for taller people to guide shut without slamming them. It would have been much better if they had a front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a excellent option for those looking to combine the advantages of a french door fridge home depot-door refrigerator's aesthetics with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model and it cools well and has a nice layout. It's also a little cheaper than the best counter-depth refrigerator with an ice maker, which can make it a popular choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good choice when you're looking for a small french door bottom freezer refrigerator door fridge that doesn't break the budget. It has a simple design that isn't as visually striking like some of the competitors but it does have enough features that make it a great pick. Its most significant feature, the adjustable temperature drawer helps to keep food like vegetables and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser and a decent Ice machine that is fast.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits over the two crisper bins. The drawer lets you use a portion of the fridge's cooling power to this area, so that you can store foods that require extra attention. You can alter this feature by using the slider located on the outside of the drawer. It is also possible to use this to set a general cooling level for the whole fridge, however, I've found that changing the generic settings tends to be more effective than specific ones.

In my tests, the refrigerator's temperatures were fairly constant across the different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the refrigerator did not differ significantly from 38 degrees. That's a good performance however it doesn't rank among the best in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also pair this fridge with a smart thermometer to get more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of stainless steel with a grey-bodied body with a "smudge-proof" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
