iRobot Combo Review

Combo is best irobot vacuum and mop's very first mop-and vacuum robot, and it's also the most stylish model from the company. The brushed aluminum top and iRobot Logo are more sophisticated than the loud designs of other competitors.

The iRobot Home application is used to guide and set up your robot. The app collects data on usage and maps of your house including furniture and obstacles. Maps and information about images are only shared with you if you have opted-in.

It's not a mop.

The Combo irobot robot, an extremely smart mopping robot, has all the power of the superb Roomba J7+ and adds a reservoir of water onboard as well as mopping pads that are small and a robotic arm which can lift and lower the pad. It can do a lot of work in 111 minutes before running out of juice, and then automatically returning to its base station for recharge.

The model that includes the iRobot Home app so you can begin or stop cleaning runs. It's also a good-looking robot, sporting matte black plastic that doesn't show dust or fingerprints and the top piece of aluminum is brushed with the small iRobot logo.

It does an excellent job of vacuuming and has no issue crossing over large area rugs or transition strips between flooring surfaces. It's even able to capture fine dust that other robotic vacuums fail to pick up. However, it's not so great at cutting. It can't obliterate dried milk stains, for instance unless you send it out four or five times.

irobot with mop’s dedicated Braava jet M6 mopping robot cleaner, which is often offered in a bundle with the J7 Plus for less than the cost of the combo Combo does a much better job of this and other difficult jobs. It's even able to clean up ketchup and wine spills but I'd suggest sending it after any type of liquid with a high sugar content.

It's an air vacuum

It's one of the more attractive robot vacuums. The top piece is smooth and doesn't display dust or fingerprints as easily as some of its competitors. The tiny water tank and dustbin are easy to close and open, although they're not the greatest in terms of capacity. The Combo j7+ has all the smarts that you'd expect from iRobot. This includes maps and obstacle avoidance maps that operate efficiently and quickly. The mopping arm is what makes this model stand out from the rest of its competitors. It keeps the mop pad hidden in the top of the vacuum, but if it detects a surface that needs mopping it lowers the pad beneath and behind the robot. This is a major improvement over other robot vacuums which require you to take out the mop pads to clean hard floors or carpets manually. It is possible to shut off the entire unit to mop.

It's an electric charging station

When you're ready to charge your Combo irobot roomba models, simply place it on the charging station and align its metal contacts with those on the Self-charging base robot Vacuum. The charging station functions well and is simple to set up. During my testing it took about a couple of minutes for the robot's to start charging and then make a sound when it was done. Once the Combo robot is fully charged, you can begin mapping runs on the app to help the robot better comprehend your home. You can also mark specific objects such as cords for lamps, as permanent avoidances in the app. You can also connect your robot to Alexa or Google Assistant, so you can use voice commands to direct it around your home.

It's a smart device

Combo irobots depend on acoustic sensors and onboard cameras to identify the type of floor they are cleaning, as well as the objects that are in your home. It then combines this information with maps of your surroundings and data from the robot's onboard camera to create a personalized cleaning plan for each space. It is smart enough to stay clear of your lamp cords, couches, and other objects that you would like to keep. Of course, like any connected device there are concerns regarding the security of this information. However, iRobot affirms that it will never sell customer information and the images are not taken without the consent of the customer.
