    World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and boost additional stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

    Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats are increased in value. This value is the total of all the leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the number of perks that need to be changed in order to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a popular measure of power, and can be seen on all item upgrader kit [Recommended Studying] tooltips. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at a lower level. Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.

Using the item level will allow players to compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a sign of the item's condition and its quality. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when examining the inventory of a vendor.

The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is made. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is typically close to the actual Blizzard item level.

It's not the only factor that affects the level of an item upgrader mod. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also change its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

    Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded one time, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could provide the item additional damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding an exclusive name to the item.

Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button with the arrows that circle. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other rerolling methods.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat in the range, unless they are a unique item upgrader mod or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to increase. Similar to the base equipment, this must be done per item, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats at once.

    Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items, the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more useful in the early game than later ones as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability, which increases with each item level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn by using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Furthermore some items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

    Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be costly and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it fails.

When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the Luck of that item. Each item has a base success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases that chance by an additional five percent.

The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
