Las Vegas is a gambling city. There are winners and losers there.

People tend to focus on the luxuriously decorated casinos on the Strip and the glamorous shows, and the dreamy, bright stories of people hitting the multi-million dollar jackpot!

However, if you look at the real world, there are only a handful of winners, and most gamblers are losers.

Tourists who visit Las Vegas are only engrossed in the casinos during their stay, and when the time comes to finish sightseeing, whether they win or lose, they return to their hometowns. So what about the gamblers who live in the area? Have you ever wondered?

I've lived in this city for 23 years, and during that time I've met many different people. When it comes to gambling, no one has ever hit the jackpot and become a millionaire.

I think there are two types of people who go to casinos.

One type is the type that enjoys casinos as entertainment within the limits of a set allowance.

The other type is the type that goes to casinos with the goal of winning.

As you may have guessed, the latter type is the worst.

If you win, you keep gambling in an attempt to win more, and before you know it, you start losing and all the money you worked so hard to earn is gone.

This is the pattern where you spend more money trying to get back the money you lost, and finally run out of money.

But it's still "better" than just running out of money.

The worst thing is withdrawing cash from your credit card at the ATMs scattered around the casino floor.

This is where your life starts to fall apart!

Sadly, but my friend's son-in-law is a "bad gambler." My friend recently came to Las Vegas for sightseeing. The problem is what happened at that time.

Apparently, the son-in-law came to see my friend with a serious look on his face and said, "I have something important to tell you, so please listen to me." Then he took out a piece of paper. It had thousands of dollars written on it, like a calculation sheet, and then tens of thousands of dollars on the next line, and then thousands of dollars on the next line, and so on, totaling more than $60,000. My friend didn't know what it was, so she asked, "What money are you talking about?" The son-in-law replied that it was for repairs to the house. But when she asked him why it would cost so much money even though they hadn't done any major renovations, he didn't have a clear answer. By the way, my friend lives in Japan and is not very good at English. We spoke using a translation app on our smartphones.

He then called my wife and begged me to ask him what he was talking about because his conversation with her was disjointed. So he asked for some chocolate for his wife, no, that was a mistake. I asked my son-in-law to answer the phone, but he didn't want to answer. My wife knew the son-in-law, but when she saw how reluctant he was, she had a hunch that he was hiding something.

I'll skip the story because it's a long story.

He must have thought that he couldn't fool my friend very well. So he laid out his credit card on the table. Seeing this, my friend realized the meaning of the money (he had cashed it out at the casino's ATM). My friend is a very quick thinker, so I avoided giving him an immediate reply.

A few days passed without my son-in-law's plea being accepted. Since we were always seeing each other during this time, it was very awkward. Then it was time to go home. In the end, I decided to ignore the matter and left Las Vegas.

As you can see from this story, this type of gambler not only causes a downfall in his own life, but also destroys relationships with his family and relatives. It's really a problem.

I go to casinos for entertainment, but I always try not to become a gambling addict like this.
