Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting its stats base or adding additional perks. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with strong bases, such as eth Titans have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests or missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players must select it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.

There are three kinds: universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are jewels that are only available in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix at the end of item names. For example adding a Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces glyphs with another glyph, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from previous versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks and each item can only be upgraded a certain number of times before it's "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level however the materials required do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the effect of these items, rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

When an item is leveled out and is leveled out, it will be eligible for a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 on failure or increases when the Upgrade Item succeeds.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to be given affixes that increase its features. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's kind. For example an uncommon or unique weapon with a standard base will have only two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade step will require an amount of Flightstones and crests depending on the item's current level and the slot it's in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item is not able to attain its maximum level the NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to a different person and then re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and costs the same amount of material but will have a lower chance of success.

To determine the height of a structure engineers use an instrument to compare the measurement to an established reference point like a benchmark, or the ground's elevation. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are constructed to a high level of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important aspect of the game and can improve the strength, damage or other characteristics. This can be done via the item menu or clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded Best item upgrader. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be done in the rarest of circumstances.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item level upgrade.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more often than others. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for all stats. This could be a positive or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and expectations from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that increases the Best item upgrade's power by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

The game also comes with number sets that give the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on a unit. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a character without spending lots of money.

Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning stages of the game. Rerolling can help you gain a stronger character quicker, which enables players to advance in the game and reach higher levels.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be organized in a variety of ways. They can have various dimensions, contain none at all, or have a single element. Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it.
