3 Wheel Buggies

Three-wheel buggies are stylish and sleek, with excellent maneuverability. Many of them come with an upholstered sling that has an incredibly comfortable lay flat bed, which is ideal for weight distribution and are ideal starting at birth.

The wheels are larger and often include suspension to allow for smooth movements on different terrains. The only drawback to these wheels is that they tend to be more bulky and heavy to transport and store.

Stability

Three wheel buggies are very solid - they don't fall over as easily as pushchairs that have four wheels when they're in a straight line and you'll notice that you can move them more quickly and efficiently. However, if you try to turn or stop suddenly they'll lose stability and could fall over. If you're in search of a fabric sling, then these tend to be placed lower in the frame than modular seats, so that your baby's centre of gravity is closer to the ground which means a smoother ride and less kerb pop (you don't have to exert as much pressure or effort to lift the buggy over and up the curb).

Maxi-Cosi is most well-known for its car seats, but it has recently expanded its product line with the Citylife lightweight 3 wheel buggy travel system and pushchair. This 3-in-1 is perfect for urban life, and comes with a baby car seat or carrycot. It has four wheels and a unique pewter black aluminium frame that the manufacturer claims is 'slim and compact' - it's just 2cm larger than the Babyzen Yoyo.

Folding

She found that it was able to handle it very well and claimed that it "navigates over grass, bumpy sidewalks, cobbles and dirt tracks, and makes it easy to drive up and down kerbs".

The Roma Atlas is another popular off road option and like the Urban Glide 2, comes with a variety of colours to complement your style. It also comes with an adjustable handlebar as well as a large basket. You can also choose from a variety of infant car seats to convert the buggy into a pram. This includes the chicly designed carrycot plus(tm) which is a cosy lie flat baby bed suitable for infants and newborns that are up to 12 months old.

Safety

Having four wheels makes a buggy much more stable, less likely to tip and easier to handle. It also makes it safer for your child because the weight of their body is evenly dispersed across the frame.

A four-wheeled buggy also tends to have a lower centre of gravity and therefore is easier to pop up and over curbs. The fabric sling seats are positioned inside the frame and not on top as modular seats. This results in a lower seat position and a buggy that can be easily pushed.

However, if you want to go for an exercise with your child then a 4-wheeler may be better suited as it comes with a suspension system that allows the front wheel to move independently of the back one which allows you to navigate rough terrains and bumpy roads Be aware that not all buggies with 4 wheels are suitable for running (most are NOT like the Phil and Teds). Mountain Buggies are the exception because they come with a suspension system specifically designed for them that's been tested independently across all kinds of terrain.
