Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they are connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a professional or higher salvage kit to retrieve upgrades from the items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will take on. The damage absorption of an item upgrading of armor will increase as it is upgraded to the highest upgrade level. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it should be heavier.

There are a few different types of armor upgrades available in the game, and each one has distinct effects. Certain upgrades give armor an additional number of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The type of armor upgrade that an item will receive is indicated by the name of the upgrade, as indicated in the table below.

A few upgrades also feature magic or a hybrid of technology and magic, which is identified by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges to use. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be found by exploring the area and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, but can be found in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide significant boost to stats and are a worthwhile cost, especially for single-handed weapons.

A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will significantly boost its defense, but the player should be aware that putting more weight on it will drastically reduce its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The defensive boost gained usually isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain firearms have enhancements to enhance their intrinsic qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes weapon overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity for greater damage) are two examples.

The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by finishing side quests, taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to boost the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in armor and weapons. The quality of a jewel can be improved upon by the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Based on the level of the jewel it will give different stat boost when slotted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

The Jeweler is able to create the highest levels of gems except for the rare and legendary ones which you must attain certain levels to gain. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels are able to be swapped with a jewel of the same kind without damaging it. However you can only swap out a jewel in an item upgrader of equipment only once.

It is common to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. Jewels also enhance performance and make an outer layer that is more durable than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to them.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your shields and weapons. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be freely swapped, but they're not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Trinkets

Trinkets can give your character various small, but beneficial, advantages. You can find them in the starter area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player will unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny but beneficial boost in movement speed and the ability to escape. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player acquires weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be placed in any type of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded and only works with specific types of trinkets.

These trinkets also provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the character is not fighting. This lets the hero perform better when they are not active and also helps to compensate for the absence of a solid team or the absence of any talent tree slots that normally are filled with the hero's Best item upgrader statistics.

As a general rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace in the near future. Then, you should consider any items with desirable statistics that aren't as important as the iLevel of the item upgrader to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats that you wish to upgrade, since it's generally more beneficial to upgrade one crucial stat than two subpar ones.

Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players however will pick a green or a pink ward, based on the matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also find other trinkets in the form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones in the story, such as the main quest of a chapter or killing a particular boss.
