Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the best ways to upgrade your gear without relying on massive drops or trade. This article will show you how to upp your items effectively.

Upgrades in equipment can add an increase to the item's base stats. This bonus scales based on the rarity and quality of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components are the parts that improve your armor and weapons more effective. They can be found by destroying enemies, purchasing them from karma vendors or finding them in item-spheres. They can also be rescued from equipment that has them or by using a high-tier salvage kit such as the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. In contrast to other items, upgrade components are not destroyed when they are removed from an item.

Upgrade components are primarily used to upgrade an item but they can also be used for other reasons. They can be stacked to increase the level of an upgradeable item, or they can be used to enhance the experience gained by upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. They can be forged to give additional benefits. A glyph that has been crafted can increase the chance of upgrading its target, and an upgrade boosts the attack or defense attributes of weapons.

By selecting an upgrade template from the GUI will let you bind it to an item. This will show the list of upgrade components that the item can be upgraded to. You can also use the workbench to selecting an upgrade template. In either case, the item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components have been gathered.

Each component has its own experience multiplier, which affects the amount of experience an item gets when it upgrades with the component. Organic components, like, have a higher multiplier of experience than mechanical components. It is therefore best to upgrade with organic components until you reach the experience multiplier for the next level of the weapon or gear, and then switch to mechanical upgrades.

In addition to the multiplier for experience, each item also has the maximum number of upgrades it can receive. The number of upgrades available is determined by the upgradeable rank and the type of upgrade available to the upgradeable item. For example, the highest possible upgrade for a weapon is a tier 10 weapon. However, the most common upgrade for weapons is the tier 6 weapon and an armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets

A set is a collection of items which share bonuses. Each item can be upgraded at minimum once. The upgrade increases the amount of bonuses you can expect to receive. The first time you upgrade an item, its initial stat will be +1. In subsequent upgrades the stats of the primary one will be boosted a bit further (for example, +1 up to 12+/13+/14+), and each time you upgrade the item it will have one of its additional stats is increased randomly.

Upgrades can also boost the damage base of a weapon. This could be crucial for certain types of weapons. However, weapons cannot be upgraded to have a greater maximum defense roll than their regular base. In addition to rerolling items, players can also alter the identification of any item by interfacing with an upgrader NPC. This will change its identification as a weapon to armor or vice versa. The base requirements and stats remain the same. The change will be permanent and will affect all characters who own the gear.

The player can also upgrade their item level for any equipped equipment. This can be done by interacting with an upgrader NPC and getting upgrade components.
