Path of Exile Item Upgrades

item upgrade upgrades (Telegra`s blog) are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of extra damage, more AD or even more affixes.

Often times however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They increase the performance of the item upgrader kit they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged using a specialist or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage an armored piece or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. Upgrading a piece of armor to its highest upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. However, it's important keep in mind that this will increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than before.

There are several kinds of armor upgrades available in the game, and they all have different effects. Certain upgrades grant armor an additional number of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item upgrading can receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.

A few upgrades also feature magical or a combination of technology and magic, which is shown by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges in order to be used. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest method to upgrade your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, but is readily available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant improvements in stats and are well worth the investment.

The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to its max upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it will also decrease its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The added defense usually isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade can enhance the damage caused by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of the rifle sniper. Certain firearms also have upgrades that improve their innate characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes weapon overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity for greater damage) are two examples.

The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of bosses or monsters, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost of a certain number of Bars. You can still do this but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. It is better to purchase gear that has minimal upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a better likelihood of granting you highest level of benefits and blessings.

The majority of players will prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they use most frequently to help them level up quicker. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when paired with experts in biotics like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. They can be created through a process called jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gemstone and a number of specific ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the quality of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a gem can be improved by the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the tier the jewel is at when it's inserted into jewelry, weapons, or equipment.

The Jeweler is able to create all tiers of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones which require a certain level to get. Jewels can be replaced by another one without damaging the original. You are able to replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

It is normal to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. Jewels also enhance performance and create a surface harder than steel so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not damage them.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your shields and weapons. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be swapped, but they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that provide many small but useful benefits to your hero. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak. It grants a small, but useful bonus in speed of movement and evasion. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar manner as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that are active when the hero is not fighting. This allows a hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also compensate for the lack of a excellent team or talent tree slots which would normally be filled by a hero's top stats.

A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace soon, followed by items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item upgrading. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat than two less important ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the beginning of the game. Top and mid players, on the other hand will pick either a pink or green ward, based on the matchup. These choices can impact the ability of a hero to control the map.
