1. iRobot Roomba j7+

The Roomba J7+, IRobot's most advanced robot to date is the Roomba j7+. The most significant innovation is its camera-based obstacle-detection system. This uses AI to detect objects such as charging cables and shoes. It's also the first to automatically send you a picture of an object it encounters so that you can tell it to avoid it in the future.

The Combo J7+ is the best robot mop we have ever tested. It picks up dirt and spills easily leaving no trace it was there. The iRobot application makes it simple to control. You can schedule cleanings, and also create Keep Out Zones to ensure that it doesn't clean in areas you don’t want. It's also compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can control it from start to stop using your voice.

The design is also superior to the other models. It features a sleek, top piece that resembles toys rather than a loud and obnoxious robot. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System automatically empty, which is great for reducing your cleanup time.

In our tests, the j7+ was quick to clean up dust, dirt and pet hair. Its counter-rotating rubber brush rolls kept the debris in one place instead of scattering it around the floor. It even managed to take small gravel and sand, which most other robots aren't able to do. It did without getting caught up in our pet's hair.

The j7+, though not as smart as the Roomba S9, which costs $1,217+ Self-Emptying Vacuum Robot from iRobot and cannot clean the stairs, is a good robot vacuum option for those who need both mopping and a vacuum. It's not too expensive, and the iRobot app makes it very user-friendly.

While the iRobot Home app is very user-friendly, we've found it to be less reliable than other applications that use robotic cleaners. It can take a while to download updates and it is sometimes difficult to know if they are working until you see them in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you're looking for a robotic vacuum cleaner that does more than just clean your floors, a hybrid is the ideal choice. These bots are equipped with a water tank, so they can mop and vacuum simultaneously. They also have a range of additional features, including smart vacuum cleaner mapping, small obstacle avoidance, and the ability to wash and dry mopping pads. The downside is that they can be expensive when purchased at full retail, but during Black Friday and Cyber Monday they usually drop in price.

Roborock makes some of our top robot vacuums, and the Q5+ is no exception. It's their most affordable auto-empty model, and while it lacks some of the premium features found on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's a great option if you're willing sacrifice a little to save some hundred dollars.

The Q5+ is noticeably gentle around obstacles like wall legs and table legs, which makes it an excellent choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also very thorough in cleaning up dust bunnies, which is an area where cheaper robot vacuums be a bit sloppy. The technology for navigation in the Q5+ is excellent as well, with only a few misses in corners and on walls.

Like other Roborock devices as well, the Q5+ can be controlled with a few buttons on the device itself or via the Roborock app. The app lets you start and stop cleaning. You can also set schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go areas and alter your home map, or re-label rooms.

If you decide to go with the Q5+, it comes with a new auto-empty dock, which was specifically designed to make this machine easy to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver but once it's installed, emptying the bin is done without difficulty. It comes with a huge LCD screen, which is useful when setting up schedules and adjusting settings. This feature isn't required for most people but it can help you easily keep track of the robot's maintenance schedules.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's incredibly smart in both its vacuuming and mopping capabilities. Its design is among the top in the market however, it's costly.

It is a relatively small base station that looks great and is easily hidden when not in use. But the station's biggest selling factor is its ability to automate various tasks and functions that other robots will leave to you. It stores clean and dirty water, it electrolyzes and heats the water (which many other robots require you to do), empties the dustbin after vacuuming, and ensures that your robot clean and charged.

Its vacuuming capabilities are impressive, too. It's the only robovac I've tried that does an excellent job of removing debris from bare floors. And it's not as loud as the expensive Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

But the Freo X Ultra has its shortcomings, particularly when it comes to navigation. Its LiDAR and laser sensors aren't as reliable and reliable as other robovacs. This means it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain areas of your home. It's also unable to climb stairs like other models and isn't equipped with a docking station to create a cleaning area for carpets that are soft.

Although it doesn't have as many in terms of cleaning options available in its app, or as many shortcuts within the app as some other robovacs, the Freo X Ultra is still a top choice for those looking for a comprehensive mop and robot vacuum that's worth the price cost.

If you're looking to save money or aren't averse to the limitations of the robot, there are many other options available. Many eufy models cost considerably less. The Eufy Qrevo curv, for instance, is cheaper and has many more features, like the ability to climb stairs and a full-function Dock, that provides an improved overall experience when vacuuming on bare floors carpets with low pile and even high-pile carpets.

4. Eufy RoboVac G30

Eufy, a Anker company is a long-standing leader of making robot vacuums that strike the right balance between performance, features and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning power for hard and carpet floors, as well as mopping capabilities for a low cost. It's easy to set it up, just attach one of the side brush and turn it on, then connect your charging dock. The app walks you through the steps needed to connect it to Wi-Fi, and the G30 is ready to go. The dock must be placed near an outlet with enough space to move.

The elegant G30 has some flaws. The iRobot Roomba 675 is better built, incurs lower recurring costs, charges faster and has a similar battery life while offering superior performance on floors that are unfinished and carpets with low pile. It also has a bigger dust bin that doesn't require to be emptied as often and comes with a set of boundaries that ensure it isn't in certain areas. The G30 is more affordable and simpler to maintain. Its smaller size means that it doesn't have to be emptied as often and it's less trouble with bulky materials like cereal.
