The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and works when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum cleaners best vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the competition. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with how dirty they are.

If you own a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Finally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also gives access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic cleaner and mop vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
